"The District" - $200M Mixed-Use Development Moving Forward in Round Rock

The Austin metro area continues to grow, with capital and companies continuing to pour in. Among the upcoming projects, Round Rock is preparing to welcome The District, which will place restaurants, shopping, high-end office space, residential units, and hospitality on 65 acres near the southeast corner of I-35 and Toll 45, between the Target shopping center and the existing Sonic. 

It appears to be similar to The Domain, though on a smaller scale. When it is fully developed, they expect it to create 5,000 additional jobs for the area. It's not clear how quickly they anticipate construction, since they were given 20 years to complete the project. 

It's just across the toll road from Dell's headquarters, and about 10 minutes from the new Apple Campus which was recently announced on Parmer Lane. 

Since it's only about 8 minutes from my personal home, I am excited about this new development, though it may be a while before we can actually enjoy it.
