Still Hard to Believe that I Did It...

So here's the thing.  I decided to take an actual break for Thanksgiving while we were in the Houston area, and by "actual break", I mean, "no blogging".  I managed to go from Monday to Saturday without writing a post, and it felt really good.  One benefit of travelling for this particular holiday is that we didn't end up with a fridge filled with fattening foods that I will eat for a solid week.

If you are considering taking a brief hiatus, I would highly recommend it, as I experienced several benefits, some of which wouldn't have been as obvious to me.

First and foremost, I was surprised at how many new ideas I had for posts that I intend to write in the upcoming weeks.  I kept a list of these, and I look forward to addressing these topics soon.  Additionally, I have a LOT of new pictures from things that we did together, including our day trips to Galveston and Kemah.

I was happy to get some serious quality time with my wife and kiddos, and we are leaving town again this next weekend for more of the same.  It's been too long since I visited my hometown (Dallas).

I don't really have any earthshattering lesson or news to impart here, but I am feeling relaxed, happy and looking forward to Christmas.  At this time of year, I always get pensive and a bit introspective.  I am hoping that in the midst of our travels, my son's birthday in two weeks, and Christmas itself I can find some time for planning this month for 2010.  I am hopeful that it will be a very good year indeed.  :-)
