Tukong Moosul Martial Arts - Austin, Texas - Highly Recommended for Kids

About five years ago, we learned about Master Yi's Tukong Moosul martial arts school, when my wife wasmaster yi tukong moosul visiting the local rec center.  We were looking for a sport for my son, and someone suggested Tukong.  Not long after that, we visited the Round Rock location (which has since closed), and we were hooked.  My son was the first student there, and his teacher was Master Ali Brown.

Looking back, this was a big turning point in my son's development.  Now that he is 10, I am very happy that we made the decision to enroll him in this particular school.  My son had vestibular issues which required occupational therapy for a couple of years, and Tukong has helped with his balance, strength, and endurance.  Another big "plus" is the fact that they focus a lot on teaching respect for parents.

My son is presently a deputy black belt there, which has also helped with his confidence.  Last fall, my then-7-year-old daughter surprised me one evening by suddenly proclaiming that she, too, wanted to enroll as a student in the academy.  WOW!  I recommended that she try it out once or twice before we made a commitment to pay for the classes, and the instructors were more than happy to oblige.  Now, both of my older kids are students there, and this has become a regular part of our weekly routine.  Since we have two smaller kids (toddler and an infant), I usually take the kids to Tukong myself, so that my wife doesn't have to cart four kids there and back.  :)

I have always been impressed with how good with kids Master Ali and Master Yi are.  My son really looks up to Ali, and you can tell that this is a guy who sincerely likes kids, and people in general.  Interestingly, they also do quite a bit of work in the film industry, working with stuntmen and choreographing fight sequences.

I have included this business in a couple of posts in the past, and I would highly recommend trying them out if you are considering martial arts as an activity for your kids.  The staff there is friendly and supportive, and the cost is reasonable.  I think they give a decent price break if you pay for a year at a time.

The school also has party, game, and movie nights from time to time, and the kids have made some pretty good friends there.

Check it out if you can!  The school is located just south of Braker Lane on Burnet Road, at 10435 Burnet.  Their primary website is at http://masteryi.com.  If you have any questions at all, feel free to call me directly anytime at 512-796-7653.
