WE'RE BACK! (un)Inspired by Song Contest Announcement - November 2008

After taking a break in October for numerous reasons, we decided that ActiveRain needs an infusion of good old-fashioned fun (click the link to experience my twisted sense of humor). With that in mind, I am happy to announce the latest contest for our Inspired by Song! group.

This month's contest theme is "TURN THAT SONG OFF!".

Basically, we are looking for any songs that you cannot tolerate hearing for more than a few seconds. I have my own post in mind on this topic, and I look forward to seeing the entries this time around.

What types of songs are acceptable? Well, the world is your oyster. YOU decide what is worthy of using as your own personal form of torture.

Please keep the entries light (i.e. no songs that remind you of something sad). We are looking for truly cheesy, awful songs of any genre.

Perhaps you were made to listen to something when you were a kid and it still haunts you today, or maybe you went through a phase in high school which seems embarrassing in retrospect. Maybe it's a song that your spouse likes, but you can't stand. Regardless, bring your bad songs!

We are not simply judging on the basis of the song or songs themselves (you can choose more than one). Instead, we aim to judge all entries on the writing quality as well. Be funny. Be yourself, even if you are a bit of a goofball.

Here are some additional details:

THE RULES:

The post must be tagged TURN THAT SONG OFF. You can title it whatever you like.
All entries must be submitted between now and November 30th.
Only one entry per person will be allowed, but you can use multiple songs if you prefer.
Post your entry in the groups Inspired By Song! and Dedicated Bloggers, along with any other three groups that you want to use.

THE JUDGING:

The judges will be the three founders of the Inspired By Song! group (Adam Waldman, Paul Slaybaugh and Me).

Although the judges are free to comment on any and all of the entries, any comments made during the contest will not be an indication of the final results.

THE PRIZES:

Grand prize winner - 1000 points

500 points for up to five honorable mention posts

200 points just for entering the contest (These points are in addition to the 200 points that you receive for every post, and whatever bonus points that you get for comments from Active Rain).
