ACTIVERAIN MEMBERS: Headed to Austin? I have a special offer for you!

Recently, I read a post by Robert Swetz that reminded me of a previous marketing campaign that my team and I had conducted via email and "snail mail" years ago.

It's simple, really.  We offered to take any potential clients to lunch or dinner if they were traveling to Austin.  We even included a homemade "coupon".  We offered this to a bunch of people who had registered on our website back then.  Of course, you always hope that those who are partaking of the free meal are those who are sincerely looking to buy a home, right?

It seemed like a chance that I was willing to take, and it did pay off for us, so I'm not sure why we didn't make this idea part of our permanent marketing.  Probably because life tends to sidetrack things, or perhaps because of simple laziness.

At any rate,I was inspired by Robert's post to offer the same thing to my friends here at ActiveRain.  I have noticed a number of members who have relatives in Austin or in a nearby area.  Sometimes, I hear that they were actually in town, but we didn't get a chance to meet.

I would like to change this.

Here is my offer: If you are going to be in or near the Austin area, I would be happy to take you out for lunch or coffee, my treat (dinner is also a possibility if I can arrange a sitter and bring my wife!).  I have harped on the importance of face-to-face networking many times on my blog.  It's time to put my money where my....blog is, much as I did when I hosted an AR gathering/birthday party back in August.  Recently, I received a very nice-sized referral from a local broker as a result of the friendship that we have developed:

I even promise to take you to a halfway decent restaurant, not McDonald's.  :)  If you would prefer to grab a coffee, Austin is rife with java places, so we won't have any trouble finding a good one, I'm sure.  If you like, we could grab some BBQ at the County Line.

If you live within driving distance, and you are coming to Austin for a day or two, let me know and we can get together for an hour or so to hang out.  If you are flying in for an extended stay, I would be happy to help with any questions you might have about the area, or suggest some things to do while you're here.

I don't have an official coupon for you this time, but if you have any travel plans bringing you to central Texas, bookmark this post and give me a call.  I look forward to meeting you!

Thanks for reading!
