I Have Written Over 600 ActiveRain posts!

I will readily admit that I don't necessarily have anything truly profound to offer you with this post.  I just felt like I deserved to pat myself on the back and write a milestone post since I crossed the 600-post mark this week.  I think this is #604 or so.  Some people have said that they don't like milestone posts because they are self-promotional in nature.  Frankly, I don't think I would be here if I were not interested in promoting myself and my business.  It has worked for me so far.

I thought about how to approach this particular post as I saw the number gradually inching closer to the new mark:

  • Maybe I should talk about lessons I have learned, or share some tips with you, the reader.  I've done it before.
  • Maybe I could talk about my history here over the past 14 months and the fact that my business has taken on a whole new dimension.  I've covered that ground.
  • I even considered making this post exactly 50 words long, so that it would be my shortest post ever.  Nah.  Too self-aware and ironic.

Then I realized, somewhat to my own dismay, that it doesn't really matter what I say here, because most people won't actually read the whole post before proceeding to comment.  In fact, many of you will only read the headline and glance at the text.  Believe me, I probably wouldn't read all of this if I were in your shoes.  Your blue suede shoes.  You know, the wingtipped ones?  I wrote that last part to see if you were paying attention.  If you mention it in the comments below, I will know you read this entire post word for word, and I will publicly commend you for doing so.  I hope this doesn't come across as negative.  I prefer to think of it as realistic.

I have placed a graphic to the left with my current stats.  There are 15 extra posts showing in the post number there, which were mainly those I made directly to groups (i.e. not to the site as a whole) when I first started and didn't know what I was doing.  The extra 15 don't show up on my stats on the blog dashboard, so I don't count them.  Maybe the stats will motivate you, or they might make you jealous or irritated, in which case I'm sorry for that.

Thanks to all of my loyal subscribers and friends.  Time to get started on the next 600.  This is still one of the best free hobbies that I have found, and I actually make money and new friends doing it, so there's no reason to stop now.

Have a great weekend!
