Our Family Trip to the Houston Zoo (with photos)

This is the final "installment" of my family trip photos from our recent visit to Houston (pre-hurricane).  We spent our last day at the Houston Zoo, which was a lot of fun for the whole family.  Unfortunately, the last time I went there, my cell phone was stolen from my van, so if you visit, I would encourage you to lock your doors.

The zoo is located on the southern edge of downtown, across from Rice University, in Hermann Park.  Here's their website if you are interested in checking it out for yourself: http://www.houstonzoo.org/.

Here's a self-portrait of sorts with Abby in my lap:

This next picture was taken when all three of our kids were inside the piranha tank.  Actually there is a large tube in the tank for kids to explore.  I was a little too tall to participate, but it seemed very cool.  They stayed in there for quite awhile.

Aleah holding her nose sort of sums up the experience near the flamingos, which I called the "stinky flaminkies".  Needless to say, this went over very well with my kids.  Brandon has quite the poker face.

We had to walk a LONG way to get to the petting zoo, which is near the back of the zoo, sort of by itself.  The main attraction was a lamb, and there were a few very sad looking goats.  However, Abby enjoyed it immensely, which is really all that mattered.

Overall, it was a fun way to spend our last day in Houston.  I would recommend it if you have a chance.  We were all pretty tired that night, since we drove straight home after the zoo closed (about three hours or so).

Thanks for reading about our day!
