Active Rain Gathering in Austin on August 16th, 2008 - Details Here!

Thank you to everyone who expressed interest in getting together next month for an ActiveRain Gathering which is also serving as a pre-birthday party for me.  I finally booked the location a couple of days ago, and I have a really good feeling about it after doing a lot of brainstorming and research. 

Thanks also to Judi Morgan and Tricia Jumonville for their help and input thus far.  I will probably call on them for more help as things begin to shape up over the next couple of weeks.

Some of you have already received an Evite at this point (sent earlier today).  If you did not get an Evite, that doesn't mean that you are not invited.  I have only sent them so far to people who indicated an interest in attending, along with a few other Texas AR members.  

I have only invited one out-of-state person (Tom Plant) so far, because I know he is coming.  However, I would love to have more.  This is not exclusively a "Texas" event - anyone is welcome!

EVITE INVITATION TO GATHERING WITH LOTS OF DETAILS

This is my first attempt at using Evite, but I think you can respond there regardless of whether you are already on the "official" guest list of email addresses.  If not, let me know if you want to attent and I will email it to you directly. 

Here are the basics, but please visit the link above, as it includes a stronger level of detail about the event:

DATE: August 16th, 2008

TIME: Starts at 2pm - We have the room until 7pm officially, but there is live music from 6-9pm, so people are welcome to hang out and enjoy that, too, even after the official part ends.  I plan to be there for the entirety.

COST: As my guest, you will only be responsible for any alcoholic beverages.  I am covering the location and food cost myself. 

LOCATION: County Line on the Lake, 5204 FM 2222, Austin, TX 78731

FOOD: Awesome BBQ.  There will be all-you-can-eat lean brisket, turkey, and sausage with all of the usual sides (potato salad, beans, slaw).  We might decide to have some people bring dessert if that is allowed there.
