Most years, I debate over whether to bother with going to watch fireworks, and we typically put off planning until the last minute. Last year, I remember driving my two older kids to see the big fireworks show in Round Rock as dusk was settling over the area. They used to wait until well after dark to begin; as luck would have it, they began much earlier so we saw some of them from a distance.
This year, I am planning to take the kids to the Pflugerville Pfireworks Pfestival. Yes, they spelled them all with "Pf" at the beginning. It is something of a tradition here, it would seem. In fact, every time a new business opens with a name like Family Fun Center, I am compelled to say, "Shouldn't that be 'P-family, P-fun'?"
I saw some signage around the area last week advertising the Pfireworks Pfestival, which will be held at Lake Pflugerville, I believe for the first time. The festivities are set to begin at around 4pm, and it will last until after dark (typically 9:00 -9:30pm right now).
There will also be a concert by The Corvette Brothers. I haven't heard of The Corvette Brothers, but their name sounds cool, so they can't be all bad, right? I found some information on Google about them, and they are compared to the Smothers Brothers, and they perform songs from the 40's to the present.
Here are some other activities planned for the evening which I found on the city's website:
So, you will know where to find me on the Fourth of July, with my children in tow. Sounds like a fun night!
