10,000 Comments Made - An Interesting Milestone

I posted my first comment on ActiveRain on August 4th, 2007, which I consider to be my first "real" day here:

This is a truly terrific post.  Thanks for writing it -

As you can see, I had a bit to learn, as we all do when we begin here on AR.

Today, I am happy to report that I posted my 10,000th comment, which was actually even shorter than the very first one:

Homey don't play that.

I currently have 59,450 points FOR COMMENTS MADE only.  That means that 2,378 of my comments have been for points (about 24%), while the remainder have been for fun, friendship and responding to others on my posts.  I do have trouble keeping up with the comments on my own posts, so I don't always respond, although I do read every one of them.

The first and the 10,000th comment do illustrate something else to me, namely that my comfort level on ActiveRain has evolved quite a bit.  If you click on the timestamp for the above comments, it will take you to those posts.  The first one was a featured post, since I hadn't joined any groups at all on that day.  The 10,000th comment appeared in a group that I founded recently with a friend of mine. 

In fact, I have founded or co-founded several groups:

• Family Ties
• Inspired by Song!
• Jacked!

And I am a moderator on a couple of others:

• Active Rain Addicts
• Help/FAQ Group

That might seem unrelated, but it really isn't. 

Commenting forms relationships, which inspires more involvement in the community.  I have made countless friends here during our "conversations" in comment form.
