Tributes

Welcome to Family Reunion, the weekly recap for the AR Family Ties group.  This issue is later than usual and you will see why below.

All of the posts for this week are tributes.

David Wilder (1958-2008) - See You Again Someday, My Friend  by Jason Crouch

On Friday morning, one of my best friends lost a courageous battle with cancer and left us too early.  He went home at age 49.  I miss him terribly, but I am happy that he is with the Lord.  If you haven't read this post, please take a couple of minutes to do so.  Thanks!

Christopher Rule Schurr ~ Sharing My Christopher ~ He Was Full of Life and Laughter!  by Jeanean Gendron

Jeanean's son passed away this past month.  This tribute is simply lovely.  I can only imagine what Jeanean is feeling, but this was a wonderful way to honor his memory.

In Memory of David Wilder ( 1958 - 2008 ) He is the bright star we see in the night.    by Melissa Grant

Melissa's post about my friend brought me to tears.  She is a loving and sensitive soul, and she has been very supportive as I have walked through this difficult season of time.

~ For Jason ~   by Elaine Hanson

Based on emails that I exchanged with Elaine, I know that she was also deeply affected by the loss of my friend.  She is a special friend indeed.  Make sure that you click on the Kahlil Gibran link at the bottom of her post.  It is a terrific piece about death.

Free    by Paul Slaybaugh

Paul took a different approach in writing a special post to commemorate my friend by composing this powerful poem about death.  Paul is one of my best friends on AR, and if I am being honest, he is probably one of my best friends in general, even though I have only known him for about eight months.  Thank you, my friend.

For Jason Crouch: A Tribute To David Wilder  by Lindsay Pendleton

Lindsay created a special video tribute to my friend, and I thank her for that.  We have never even spoken, which made this gesture even more touching to me.

If you haven't joined or even visited the group yet, here is the description that I wrote there to give you some idea of what we are all about:

First question: Is this a fan club for the 80's sitcom? No. I just wanted to think of something memorable for this group. This is meant to be a fun place to escape the daily drama of the real estate industry. Please feel free to post any family stories or lessons here. We envision this as a great place to share funny stories about kids, marriage, siblings, parenting, or anything family-related. Posts may relate business to family life, or they may be about striking a healthy balance between career and life. Welcome to Family Ties!

So come on over and check it out!  We're like one big happy family in this great group!  If you aren't visiting this group, I can assure you are missing out on some terrific writing.  I look forward to seeing you there.  Let me know if you have any questions.  Thanks!
