You Just Got BLOGGED!

I was recently depositing a check at the bank, and I happened to be on the phone with Paul Slaybaugh at the time.  For those of you who know Paul, that may seem like the setup for a bad joke, or perhaps a recipe for certain disaster.  At any rate, the reason that I mentioned Paul will become more clear in a minute.

Since it was a company commission check, I drove into the "Commercial" lane.  I had endorsed the check, and I wrote "For Deposit Only" along with our account number, just like every other time that I have gone to this particular branch.

I pulled up, placed the check under the rubber-tipped spring in the little box that slides out of the wall, greeted the teller, and resumed my conversation with my friend.

About five seconds later, I heard the teller speaking to me from the exceptionally loud speaker:

Teller: "EXCUSE ME, MR. CROUCH!  DO YOU HAVE A DEPOSIT SLIP FOR THIS ACCOUNT?"

Me (startled, even though I heard loud and clear): "Uh....What?"

Teller: "DO YOU HAVE A DEPOSIT SLIP?!?"

Me: "No, and they don't usually require me to have one."

Teller: "WHAT?"

Me (now shouting a little): "I said they didn't require me to have one the last time I came!"

Teller: "WELL, WE ALWAYS NEED ONE.  MAYBE THEY JUST FILLED IT OUT FOR YOU."

Me: "Okay....<long pause>.......can't you just do that, too?"

Teller: "I WILL TAKE CARE OF IT."

I then rolled up my window and put on my sunglasses so that I wouldn't have to look at her anymore and I could continue my conversation with Paul.

He made me laugh by saying, "You got blogged!" in reference to the fact that he knew I would probably write a post about my experience (this one).  Of course, he knows me pretty well, and he is absolutely correct.

It made me start thinking about some other bad service-related issues that I have encountered over time, and the fact that they have stimulated some of my better posts.

For example:

Are you my least favorite agent in Austin, Texas?  The one that makes other agents run screaming into the night?  You were blogged recently!

Do you run a deli in northwest Austin with horrific service, both from the waitstaff and the management?  You got blogged!

Are you the night manager at a popular chain restaurant in Round Rock with a complete disregard for the cleanliness of your store?  You got blogged, too!

Are you a fellow agent or builder who doesn't understand the basics of negotiating?  Sorry to say, you got blogged as well, and it even got featured on ActiveRain!

Are you a consumer who wants a piece of my income for no apparent reason?  Blogged (and featured, too)!

Are you the idiot broker who threatened my 6'4", 290 lb. business partner over the phone?  Blogged and double blogged (two-parter for you)!

Are you the gas station guy who turned the pumps off mid-stream on that cold and difficult night back in October?  Well, I don't have to tell you what happened, because you probably already guessed.

So, what is my point here?  I guess I just wanted to point out how our everyday experiences can easily turn into posts here on our blogs.  Lest you think that I only focus on the negative, I have also written about some stellar service experiences as well, but those posts frankly aren't as funny.

Keep your eyes open for your next blogging "victim".  You might just see several while you are out and about any day of the week.
