Family Reunion - 1/19/08

Welcome to "Family Reunion", the weekly recap for the Family Ties group.  We increased to 207 members this week.  Additionally, we moved from 1067 up to 1137 posts! Welcome to all new members, and thanks to those who posted!  Keep in mind that any member of the group can invite other members to join.

Below is a selection of my some of my favorite posts to appear within the group over the past week or so, including one of my own.  If you like any of the posts below, please consider subscribing to the author's blog.  You will not be disappointed, I assure you.  I subscribe to all of the bloggers included here.

Accountability, Non Smoking and Madness! by Vanessa Stalets

Please take a minute to read Vanessa's post about quitting smoking, and leave some supportive words for her.  She has gone 23 days without a cigarette so far.  She wants help from her Active Rain family.

Face to face with a system that doesn't work! (Off topic and harsh)  by Linda Futral

Linda's post deals with child abuse/neglect and her firsthand experience dealing with the frustration of trying to help her ex-husband's kids.

A Trip to the Hospital    by Roberta LaRocca

I think most parents can relate to a trip to the ER with a child.  Roberta relates her day following her son's injury while rock climbing.

My Daughter, My Friend, Mothers Together     by Katerina Gasset

This birthday tribute post for Katerina's now-grown daughter Milet is heartwarming and cute, and it includes several pictures from Milet's childhood.

Marshmallows Taste Like... Mulch      by Inna Hardison

Inna is a new discovery of mine this week.  I am a freshly minted subscriber to her blog after reading this talented effort of hers.  Good stuff!

Her Compliment Completed ME  by Gail Tassey

Gail's post is short and sweet.  Even when our kids are grown, their words of love speak directly to our hearts.

Childhood Baseball Memories  by Adam Waldman

Adam's post about the importance of baseball in his early years is touching and a great fit for our group.  It honestly made me long for the experiences that he had with his father.

Dreaming of Scottsdale, Arizona    by Paul Slaybaugh

Paul sleeps under trees sometimes.

Do you ever feel like the Gilligan of real estate?  by Jason Crouch

I think that most people have felt a bit helpless when starting out in real estate, including me.  A discussion with my wife in the first couple of years of my career helped me to put things in perspective.

If you haven't joined or even visited the group yet, here is the description that I wrote there to give you some idea of what we are all about:

First question: Is this a fan club for the 80's sitcom? No. I just wanted to think of something memorable for this group. This is meant to be a fun place to escape the daily drama of the real estate industry. Please feel free to post any family stories or lessons here. We envision this as a great place to share funny stories about kids, marriage, siblings, parenting, or anything family-related. Posts may relate business to family life, or they may be about striking a healthy balance between career and life. Welcome to Family Ties!

So come on over and check it out!  We're like one big happy family in this great group!  If you aren't visiting this group, I can assure you are missing out on some terrific writing.  I look forward to seeing you there.  Let me know if you have any questions.  Thanks!
