Some Media Exposure Via My Active Rain Blog

On Friday, I was contacted by Texas Realtor magazine, which is published by the Texas Association of Realtors.  They wanted to interview me with regard to how our company handles our bookkeeping, finances, tax preparations, etc.  Obviously, I was happy to take some time for this, especially when she mentioned that she had found me via Active Rain.  I also joked with her and thanked her for providing me with an easy blog topic!

"Are you pretty active there on Active Rain?", she asked.

"Oh, yes.  I spend a good deal of time writing and hanging out there," I replied.

Here's her reply, which kind of says it all: "We have found that agents and brokers who are on Active Rain are a little sharper than average and they usually really know real estate."

Any media exposure is terrific (unless you are on trial, I suppose), and this was no exception.  I spoke with the reporter for awhile and she told me that the article would be appearing in the January issue.  Very cool!

I look forward to making more media contacts through my blog here at AR.  And I agree with her - the agents that I have had contact with here are definitely top-notch professionals.

I was fortunate last year to have been in the Austin American-Statesman a couple of times, once for a great listing of mine, and later for an article on difficult home selling situations, such as death and divorce.

Generally speaking, I am hoping to incorporate more public relations and media into my business plan going forward.  If you have any experience at preparing and using press releases or getting noticed by local news outlets, I would be very interested to hear what works for you.

Thanks for reading!
