FAMILY REUNION - Weekly Summary for Active Rain "Family Ties" Group - 11/9/07

As many of you may already be aware,  I founded a group called Family Ties in September, along with my friend Adam Waldman.  This group is currently moderated by me, Adam, and Paul Slaybaugh.  This is the fourth weekly recap for the group.

The group was started 47 days ago, and we passed two big milestones this week!  We went over the 100-member mark (to 106) and we have over 400 posts now (411).  We added 13 members this week, and 65 new posts!  Welcome to all new group members.  Thanks so much for your participation.

Here is a selection of my favorite posts to appear within the group over the past week or so (including one post from yours truly):

What RE/MAX Means to Me Part 4....Digging myself a hole!   by Jessica Horton

In her epic series of posts (the link above includes links to the first three parts), Jessica talks about getting into real estate and many of her initial experiences.  Interesting stuff!

What I Learned From My Mom by Cynthia Tilghman

Cynthia discusses her relationship with her mother, and how her perception of mom has changed over time.  This is a terrific, poignant and heartfelt tribute.

What would happen if you weren't there to help? Some food for thought by Jason Crouch

In this post, I explore what would happen if we were like Jimmy Stewart's character in "It's a Wonderful Life".  Check it out if you have a minute.

Why I Learned to Say "NO" and Became a Better Me by Lisa Ryan

This post offers some great food for thought for all of us about prioritizing our family time.  Don't miss this one!

Holiday Balance -- Having Fun, Reconnecting, and Maintaining Your Sanity by Brian Block

This is Brian's post about balance for this time of year, in support of Sally Cheeseman's Holiday Balance Contest.  This is not an official entry, since Brian is one of the judges.  Good stuff!

This mommy misses her boy by Faina Sechzer

Faina's post is short, sweet, and somewhat self-explanatory.  It is touching and every parent can probably relate.

Where's the Pool? by Ginger Wilcox

This is a cute and funny post about Ginger's family visiting her at an open house.  The question came from her son.  Read it!

If you haven't joined or even visited the group yet, here is the description that I wrote there to give you some idea of what we are all about:

First question: Is this a fan club for the 80's sitcom? No. I just wanted to think of something memorable for this group. This is meant to be a fun place to escape the daily drama of the real estate industry. Please feel free to post any family stories or lessons here. We envision this as a great place to share funny stories about kids, marriage, siblings, parenting, or anything family-related. Posts may relate business to family life, or they may be about striking a healthy balance between career and life. Welcome to Family Ties!

So come on over and check it out!  We're like one big happy family in this great group!  If you aren't visiting this group, I can assure you are missing out on some terrific writing.  I look forward to seeing you there.  Let me know if you have any questions.  Thanks!
