Family Reunion - Weekly Update for "Family Ties" Active Rain Group - 11/02/07

As many of you may already be aware,  I founded a group called Family Ties in September, along with my friend Adam Waldman.  This is the third weekly recap for the group.   I am changing the format slightly, in order to give more exposure to individual members (larger photos, brief summaries of the posts themselves).  Thanks!

If you haven't joined or even visited the group yet, here is the description that I wrote there to give you some idea of what we are all about:

First question: Is this a fan club for the 80's sitcom? No. I just wanted to think of something memorable for this group. This is meant to be a fun place to escape the daily drama of the real estate industry. Please feel free to post any family stories or lessons here. We envision this as a great place to share funny stories about kids, marriage, siblings, parenting, or anything family-related. Posts may relate business to family life, or they may be about striking a healthy balance between career and life. Welcome to Family Ties!

The group was started 40 days ago, and we currently have 93 members and 346 posts now!  We added 15 members this week, and a whoppping 83 new posts over the past se!!!ven days!  Welcome to all new group members.  Thanks so much for your participation.

Perhaps more importantly, "Family Ties" vaulted into the TOP TEN this week for MOST ACTIVE GROUPS on Active Rain.  We are presently at #9 thanks to all of you who have adopted this forum for your family-related posts.  Thanks!

Here is a selection of my favorite posts to appear within the group over the past week or so (including one post from yours truly):

I am an Organ Recipient.  by Marlene Scheffer

In this touching and personal blog post, Marlene talks about finding a new lease on life thanks to a modern medical miracle.  This is a highly recommended read!

I Did It Julie -- And It Felt GOOD. by Sarah Cooper

Sarah gets pro-active to help others.  She gives us all something to strive for with this post.  Challenge yourself - read Sarah's post and take action.

Morning Music - A Great Start To The Day   by Adam Waldman

In this fun post, Adam discusses his fun mornings dancing and jamming with his kids in his newly found "Mr. Mom" role.  There is good inspriration here for time spent with your own kiddos.

Halloween at my House by Jason Crouch

These are my memories from Halloween 2007, along with some photos of my kids in costume.  I hope you enjoy it.

Because of an Injury  by Mana Tulberg

Mana's post about how her priorities shifted due to an injury should be required reading for Family Ties members.

Yodeling, The Clarinet and Ugly Gym Uniforms...The Music of my Childhood  by Lisa Heindel

In her first blog for the new AR group "Inspired by Song!", Lisa discusses some great musical memories, along with sharing some family stories.  There are some terrific tunes here to enjoy as well.  Read it (and listen along) - you won't be disappointed.

So come on over and check it out!  We're like one big happy family in this great group!  If you aren't visiting this group, I can assure you are missing out on some terrific writing.  I look forward to seeing you there.  Let me know if you have any questions.  Thanks!
