Austin Real Estate Market Picks Up Steam

Following weeks of rain in central Texas, our office has experienced a big upswing in business over the past week or two. The weather has really been unprecedented, and it's rare in Austin (or anywhere in Texas) to have this much rain during the summer months. In the first six months of the year, we have had as much rain as we normally have in an entire year. At one point, we had 47 consecutive days with some rainfall. It seems as though the weather kept the market soft because fewer buyers were traveling to Austin and local buyers didn't really want to go out looking in the rain. Now that the weather is more normal (for the time being), it looks like Austin's market will be fast and furious again. Following a slower-than-average June, we anticipate July and August to be terrific months, and this should also carry into the fall longer than usual.
