I showed a cathouse today! No, it's not what you're thinking (or maybe it is)

I was showing some clients a few places in Georgetown today, despite the downpour and the unseasonably cold weather.  After driving about 30 minutes in the traffic and arriving at the first place, I realized that I had left my MLS key sitting on my kitchen counter!  Darn.

I called to let the first seller know that we wouldn't be able to get in, and she told me that since it was raining, she was there at the house, and we were free to come on in.  I was very happy to hear that our time wouldn't be wasted after all....or would it?

The seller greeted me at the door, and she was holding a black cat.  She was also cackling like a horrid witch.  Okay, no she wasn't.  She seemed VERY nice, actually.

Then I noticed another cat rubbing on her legs.  Oh, they appear to have three cats....no, four.  Um....

"My husband and I do cat rescue."  Ah, yes, I see now.  She introduced me to her two blind cats, one of whom had eyes with no pupils at all.  I don't want to seem mean at all, and I truly admire them for wanting to help animals without a home, but yikes!

Then, the smell hit me in the face like a brick.  You know the one, right?  The one that says, "There are animals present.  Lots of them.  We can't keep up with them all, frankly."

I asked, "So, how many cats do you guys have right now?"  Her answer scared me a little bit.  She said, "I don't know, actually.  I don't really want to know."  Then she laughed.

As I was waiting for the buyers to arrive, I counted around 10 cats in the living area alone.  I went outside to wait on the smallish front porch, and I noticed some very dangerous-looking wiring there, including an extension cord just sort of nailed to the wall.

Ah, here are the buyers, at last!  Color me unsurprised to learn that my buyer is allergic to cats!  Needless to say, this home would not work for them for a myriad of reasons.  The seller also explained that they had done a very poor job of converting half of the garage themselves to keep more cats.  I don't even know why we subjected ourselves to entering that "room" at all.  It smelled much like a badly maintained veterinary clinic.  The buyer told me that she had counted at least 20 cats so far.

SO, HOW DO THEY EXPECT THIS HOME TO ACTUALLY SELL?

Before we leave, I realize they also have a large dog (maybe a dalmatian mix?).  No, wait, there's another small dog....and another.  So, that means that there are at least 24 animals in this 1300 square foot home!

We were able to see one other place today, and the buyers will probably make an offer on the second place.  After all, the first one was a pretty easy act to follow, right?

I hope I actually get a call for feedback this time.
