How can you determine who runs an ActiveRain group? A brief lesson

As of this writing, there are 3,515 ActiveRain groups.  There are groups for virtually any interest that you could possibly have.  Well, there's not a Blue Man Group here yet.  Maybe I could start one soon.  But I digress...

As the founder or co-founder of three groups and moderator on two others, I sometimes have to remove posts that are terribly off-theme.  This seems to have improved somewhat over time, as people begin to understand that there are only certain groups which are here to serve as "catch alls".

Have you ever wondered who started a specific group, but you weren't sure where to find this?  What about the moderators for each group?  Where can you find this information?

I'm glad you asked.  You did ask, right?  Well, it isn't hard to find.

On the main page for the group, on the left side, scroll down below the group description to find the group's founder:

This is a screenshot from my group Family Ties at left.  Every group on AR has a similar look (founder, date founded, number of members, number of posts).

What about the moderators?  Are they a shadow group of elusive faceless members?  Actually, no.  They are also quite easy to find.  First, on the home page of the group, click on the "Members" link at the top left of the page:

This link will not appear at all unless you have already joined the group.

After clicking this link, you will be taken to a list of ALL the members in this group.  At the end of the list (which could be many pages deep), you will find the moderators and the founder(s).

Here is an example from our Inspired by Song! group.  If we had additional moderators within that group, they would appear just above the founders here:

As a bonus feature, you can also see ALL of the featured posts for any group by clicking on the "Featured Posts" link:

This link will take you to EVERY post ever featured within the group itself.

So, have some fun with it.  I was surprised to realize today how many moderators there are for some of the groups.  One of them has over 20!

Thanks for reading.  Let me know if you have any questions about this.  Have a great week!
