Inspired By Song! January Contest Winners Announcement!

Once again, we had a terrific turnout for our Inspired by Song! contest, with over 30 entries.  I want to thank everyone who took the time to compose a post this time.  We had trouble narrowing it down to the winners this time.  There were MANY great posts this time. 

This month's theme was "Childhood Music Memories", which is certainly somewhat broad.  As expected, we had a broad array of entries to choose from.  As a result of this particular contest, I ended up subscribing to several new blogs.  I would encourage you to consider looking through the entries here, as you will find some terrific writing!

Grace's post really stood out for all of us as judges.  She seamlessly wove a riveting story about growing up in South Chicago in the 70's, while including lyrics from Led Zeppelin's "Stairway to Heaven" to move the tale along.  I would highly recommend reading this masterful post.  Congratulations on a job well done, Grace!

Cindy dug deep to tell the story of her high school sweetheart and husband, Bill.  I may never hear the song "Will you Marry me Bill" the same way again.

Chris Fisher - Childhood Music Memories

Chris wrote a tribute post to her late grandfather, and she included several life lessons that she learned from this special man, including the meaning of "He Ain't Heavy, He's my Brother".  Interestingly, several of Chris's family members even stopped by to comment! 

THIRD PLACE - 500 POINTS

Simon Conway - Childhood Music Memories

Simon brought a unique perspective to the contest, having grown up in late 60's London.  "Let it Be" is one of my favorite songs, and this was an evocative and interesting post about that era.

Again, I would like to sincerely thank the other contestants.  I will be forwarding a list to Bob Stewart for point distribution in the next day or two.  As you know, every participant will receive 200 bonus points.
