READ THIS & You Will Continue Blogging - Active Rain works!

Last night around 10pm, I received an email via my AR account on the "My Home" page.  I wanted to share it publicly in an effort to encourage anyone who happens to read this post, especially if you are new to this community.

Here is the email I received (in a very slightly edited form):

Well, you may have us sold. This based on your wonderful blog!

Please contact me as your time may allow as we are in need of relocating to another area due to ongoing post Hurricane Katrina problems.

I am from -------- and still live there part of the year and moved the company to ---------- 18 months before Katrina hit.

I have the need to also relocate some wonderful folks that work with us as well and would like to look at larger homes, such as the one shown within your blog.

I would like to find a larger estate that also has one, or two guest houses as well.

Please contact us if you will be able to show listings the week following Christmas, as the sole purpose of this trip will be relocation related.

Thank you in advance and we look forward to meeting you.

He left his name and phone number, and I promptly called him.  It was his office number, so I also emailed him and told him that it was okay to call me relatively late, which he did.  We chatted for about 30 minutes, and we really hit it off.  It turns out that he had already read a good number of my posts here, and he found my writing to be "clever" (sounds good to me).  He had done extensive research on where to relocate and he is leaning very heavily toward Austin, Texas.

The upshot is that he is looking to spend up to $2 million on this purchase, and he is not interested in speaking to anyone in Austin but me, thanks to my AR blog.  As for other business from AR, I have one sale that remains under contract, and two buyers coming in January, along with this one.  Overall, this makes me excited about what 2008 will hold for me, since I am planning to continue my prolific blogging efforts.

So, what does this mean for you?  Well, I see three lessons here:

  1. Continue to blog as much as time will allow.  You don't know when or where the next client will come from.
  2. Blog about a variety of topics.  Write from your heart.  If the general public finds your blog, you want them to hang around awhile and get to know you.
  3. Blogging is more than just a fun and social hobby.  You can make real money if you are consistent.

Thanks very much for reading.  I appreciate your time!
