3 Months on Active Rain So Far - An Evaluation of My Time Here

I started here on AR actively (as opposed to my passive time here) on August 5th.  Now that I have been here three months, I thought it would be interesting to take a look at what I have been able to accomplish thus far.  I think that I have been among the more active contributors during my time at Active Rain.

What business has Active Rain brought me?   Well, I have had three referrals from my friends in other cities (one of which looks highly promising) and at least two direct contacts from consumers who read my blog and responded (one of these is scheduled to close in about four weeks, the other is coming in January to meet with me).  Overall, I think AR can bring me a lot of business next year if I stick around.

What about group connections?  I am the co-founder of two groups (Family Ties and Inspired by Song!) and I serve as a moderator along with three other "Horsemen" for another (Active Rain Addicts).  I am currently serving as one of the judges for a monthly contest for the song group.   I consider myself to be a pretty social guy, but I would not have imagined this when I started.

I am happy to say that I have made a lot of new friends through Active Rain, and I trust that they will think of me if/when they have a client moving to or from the Austin, Texas area in the future.  I have had the pleasure of speaking with about 15 of them over the past 90 days (I lost count, honestly).  In fact, a couple of them have become a regular part of my week now during our calls.

With my current point total (nearing 73,000 now), I have moved from about number 60 to number 2 in Austin, and from who knows where to number 7 for the state of Texas now.  Each time I move up a notch, the point gap seems to get larger for the next goal, but I will just continue to do what I do and perhaps move up some more.

Thanks to my friends, I also managed to pick up lots of fun new nicknames as well.  Most of them are even nice!  It reminds me a little bit of college in that way.  In case you are curious, my fraternity nickname was "Otter".  In addition to the obvious "Crouch", I have amassed the following Active Rain nicknames: Loveseat (Crouch sounds like "couch"), Crouchie, Leadfoot, Elvis, Twinkle Toes, Mr. Wonderful, Dr. Seuss, Mr. Inspiration, Governor, and even Lucky (by accident).  I'm sure I have forgotten some of them.   EDITED: I can't believe I forgot "Cheerful Jason", which may have been my first AR nickname ever, from my friend Shannon LeFevre.  Thanks for the reminder, Shannon!

If you remember another nickname of mine, please feel free to let me know.  My friend, Jennifer Bukaty, has graciously agreed to keep track of these for me.  If you are curious about the origin of any of them, please feel free to ask.  If you come up with a rude one, I can assure you that it will be deleted.

Thanks for reading this post.  I wanted to write something specifically for Brian Block's group, Active Rain Block Party.  His group is intended to be repository for success stories on Active Rain, and I would suggest you check it out sometime.
